Headline Topic: Hope for Phillies' Darin 'Babe' Ruf
Seeing Darin Ruf hit numerous home runs out of a Double-A park in Reading was thrilling. Seeing him hit his first major league home run, during the first game that he started in left field for the Philadelphia Phillies was priceless (to coin an advertising cliche.)
Will he actually develop into a major league player? Could that happen by next season? No one knows the answers to these questions, but that is one of the great things about baseball. Personal stories have always drawn me to this specific game.
If you want to read more about Ruf, feel free to read my Yahoo article about him that was published last night.
Yesterday's Headline Topic: NFL - More Than A Blown Call
Though baseball and hockey are my main sports of interest, I have to say something about the blown call that happened on Monday Night Football at the end of the Seattle Seahawks - Green Bay Packers' game.
What the heck?!!!
How can the NFL justify using rookie referees after last night's debacle. The Seahawks didn't win that game, yet they are listed as the winner.
Consumer fraud is a serious charge, but the integrity of every professional game played matters.
This is just wrong. The Networks ($$$) must force the NFL to resolve this ASAP.
Can you possibly imagine the Super Bowl ending in that manner? ...and what would happen around the world if it did. I'm serious.
Recent Headline Topic: Tony DiLeo
The hiring of DiLeo as GM promotes from within and represents another feel-good move that the newest Sixers ownership group has made.
With Doug Collins seemingly likely to continue to have strong influence on this team, all signs remain positive for the resurgence of this basketball franchise.

The Phillies' game with the Mets was postponed due to rain. So, Cloyd has been pushed to Thursday and Hamels will go tomorrow. With every win being vital, we'll see if the Phils can pickup (or will lose) a 0.5 game tonight.
