The team pulled out a nice 5-4 home opening victory against the Canucks.
Vancouver was playing without a few of their top players, but this was still a good win.
As all of the new players continue to learn coach Laviolette's systems and each others work habits, there will be moments when their opponent can capitalize and younger guys will also take some bad penalties.
Regardless - this team has promise. The promise to have a good season and build to the future. Can't hope for more than that realistic goal.
Phillies -
Charlie Manuel knows that he needs to get his players to produce offensively and soon.
Whether he will be given enough new players to actually make this a realistic goal is yet to be determined.
If this high payroll team gets off to a bad start, or does not have a good season, it seems like other types of changes will be made. The fairness of such possibilities will clearly be questionable if numerous positional player changes aren't made in the meantime.
