Baseball Trade: Rangers' Michael Young Decent One-Year Philadelphia Phillies' Fit

Headline Topic: Phillies' Trade

Rangers' Michael Young had more hits than anyone who played for the Phillies last season.

He's not a great third baseman and isn't a long-term solution. Cody Asche will need to meet expectations to make the Young acquisition a smart one. (Assuming Young does approve the pending trade.)

All-in-all, I'm okay with this trade that is expected to send Josh Lindblom and another player of modest value to the Rangers. The Phils are only expected to pay about $5.5 million of Young's $16 million 2013 salary as well.

Along with Frandsen and Galvis (if both stay), Young can be a decent one-year fix at the hot corner.

--->>>Those who aren't okay with this deal should offer some reasonably better existing alternative. Right, there aren't that many.

Now, we move onto getting a veteran middle-inning reliever.

I encourage fans of any sport to attend one of these events when you can. The excitement of the crowd and the efforts of the fighters will likely win you over to this superb athletic adventure.

Headline Topic: Eagles - Cowboys Game

Another defeat, to the Dallas Cowboys no less, continues this season's misery. The season can't possibly end soon enough.

A fresh start for this entire organization grows closer by the week. I don't know where many major changes will lead to, but they are coming.

Andy Reid has been a very good coach. We can not say that he's been a great coach, because he didn't get that Super Bowl win. For me that is the dividing line between good and great. Responses to the contrary only come through use of emotional logic.
