Top 10 Amazon Best-Seller - Maddie:Teaching Tolerance with a Smile

Our book: Maddie: Teaching Tolerance with a Smile officially became a Top 10 best-seller on Amazon.com as of 6 p.m. EST on January 29, 2014.

The ongoing public response to this real-life story continues to be deeply humbling for everyone who was involved in creating this illustrated children's book.

Children's Alopecia Project

50% of all proceeds from the sale of our book (in both print and ebook forms) are being donated to the Children's Alopecia Project (CAP).

What a ride

This incredible and unexpected ride began in the spring of 2011. By August 2013, the book was published by the Children's Alopecia Project in print form. We have been very pleased with sales of that edition. Use, or share, this link --->>Maddie: Teaching Tolerance with a Smile to purchase the printed book directly from CAP.

I published a special ebook edition within weeks of the print book release. After starting in the tens of thousands (in terms of Amazon's children's book rankings), Maddie broke into the Top 50 just prior to Christmas. It climbed through the 30s and settled in the upper 20s as of two weeks ago.

I've included extra bonus features in this version that provide background information, extra photos, and illustrations. Each item helps to tell the complete story of this book's birth.

Top 10

Today, our book was the #8 best-selling children's book on the number 1 book site in the world.

Dorothy Cascerceri's 'Celebrity Corner' (Season 2) Premieres This Week

Interviewing celebrities is something that Dorothy Cascerceri has mastered. However, this genuine journalist's deep professional resume goes well beyond the digital screen.

Here's a link to a new interview that I conducted with this sharp executive producer, TV host, writer, fashion and lifestyle expert.

Great Amazon.com days

Last month and again earlier this month, my illustrated children's book Maddie: Teaching Tolerance with a Smile ranked 45th on Amazon in it's illustrated children's category. As of late-January 2014, it ranked 33rd on the number 1 book site in the world!

Everyone involved in this effort, that helps to benefit the Children's Alopecia Project, is very grateful for the public response that we have received since the print and ebook's release in August, 2013.

Books: Creating Positive Public Response

This photo of my grandmom and I was taken in 1976. I included it in the special ebook edition of Maddie: Teaching Tolerance with a Smile. That fond picture, along with a number of other behind-the-scenes tidbits, was put into my digital edition for a reason.

My goal as a writer is to convey a variety of messages in a way that is very personal. Those choices represent my entire life experience and aren't fully explainable to anyone. Every writer understands, in varying degrees, the importance of those last two sentences.

Deep experience working for and with quality individuals over the years allowed me to make seasoned choices regarding the print and ebook editions during this project's development.

I'll be sharing more positive background information about my first published book in the near future. Until then, keep on reading, writing, and living your life in a purposeful manner.

Philadelphia Flyers Extend Steve Mason's Contract

Confirming recent reliable sources, the Philadelphia Flyers extended the contract of goaltender Steve Mason.

Mason's acquisition last spring from the Columbus Blue Jackets for Michael Leighton foreshadowed an organizational shift in crease philosophy. After the season ended, the Flyers bought out the remaining years of Ilya Bryzgalov's long-term contract.

Top job

The off-season free agent acquisition of former Flyer Ray Emery caused some to believe that Mason would serve as a backup to, or in tandem with, the veteran netminder. However, Mason's performance in training camp, combined with the front office's assessment, resulted in Mason earning the top job.

The 2008-09 Calder Trophy winner has thus far proven to be a steady presence between the pipes, which is a distinct shift from what transpired at that location on the ice during the last two seasons.

Prime time

Mason doesn't turn 26 until the end of May. So, when combining all factors the Flyers have decided to offer a goalie, who is playing in the prime of his career, an opportunity to be their number one masked man into the near future.
