Phillies free agents

TY to over ---820,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Phillies -

Rollins, Madson and Oswalt are Type A free agents.

If the Phillies offer them arbitration, they can get some high level draft picks in the form of compensation.

That would help them to restock their system.

But, that also could allow the players to accept their offer. So, time will tell how this all plays out.

World Series Champions + Flyers notes

TY to over ---820,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

World Series -

The St. Louis Cardinals historic Game 6 victory was followed by an easy defeat of a Texas Rangers team.

Watching the last few innings, we could see in the eyes of the Rangers' players that they knew they were beat.

Congrats to the 2011 World Series Champion Cardinals. You have earned and deserve baseball's crown.

Flyers -

The team plays against the Hurricanes tonight in Philly.

Things have gone far off course recently. Hopefully, they get back on track soon so that this unit can at least remain steady until Chris Pronger returns to action.

Amazing World Series + Flyers' issues

TY to over ---820,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

World Series -

Too many words would dilute how great Game 6 was last night.

Let's enjoy Game 7 in what has become an awesome series.

Flyers -

Bryzgalov noted that he feels like he is lost in the woods right now and has zero confidence in himself.

Unexpected comments from a veteran goalie in October. Hopefully, he sorts things out as he has the talent to do so.

His honesty is right on. It just needs to be directed into a productive way.

Rescheduled World Series Game 6 + Flyers notes

TY to over ---820,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

World Series -

The postponed Game 6 brings to mind the classic Phillies two-part clinching World Series Game 5 in 2008.

Sure, the Rangers and the Cardinals didn't even start their game and then have it suspended. With the rain, it being October and still being in recovery about how 2011 played out for the Phillies - these images come to mind.

Flyers -

Bryzgalov had his shakiest game of the year last night when the team played the Canadiens.

He is learning his defense, the team is learning him and we are all learning our new number 1 goalie. It is very early and he has the resume to carry this team very far.

Rangers to win World Series tonight, or will Cardinals force 7th game? + Flyers

TY to over ---810,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

World Series -

In what has developed into an interesting 'Fall Classic', the Texas Rangers find themselves on the verge of their first-ever World Series championship.

I wonder what the reaction to Tony LaRussa's unusual bullpen moves in Game 5 would have been if they would have been made by any other manager...Say Charlie Manuel.

While a seventh game would be great, tonight could be the final time baseball is played in 2011.

Flyers -

Meanwhile Bryzgalov will be back in net as the Flyers faced the Canadiens.

He seemingly has worked out signals with his defensive partners and is ready to go. All part of the normal process of guys getting to know each other. Probably, no big deal.

Hopefully Chris Pronger's situation continues to improve as well.

Pronger's eye injury & Jagr and Hartnell's 2 goals

TY to over ---810,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Flyers -

Two goals by two Flyers would generally make for a good story. But, not last night.

Wow, was that scary. Seeing Chris Pronger leaving the ice screaming after he was hit around, or on, his eye against the Maple Leafs.

I felt particularly bad because I had just been with him less than a month ago.

I interviewed Pronger in the Flyers' locker room after practice in Voorhees.

While he is a very physically imposing presence, he is also a good guy to talk with.

The man truly seemed like he was healthy and ready to skate into the new season.

I thought last night about also interviewing Bernie Parent a year ago. He told me that his vision was restored through surgery.

Increased equipment protection must be imposed in the NHL. The lives of these men matter too much.

Flyers + Maple Leafs

TY to over ---810,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Flyers -

The game against the Maple Leafs should prove to be another solid check point for this refreshed Flyers team.

Their starting goalie, James Reimer, isn't expected to start due to injury. So, Jonas Gustavsson will get the nod.

This early in the season matchups, goaltenders and other such matters aren't nearly important as getting your own legs under you.

This team has a mix of veterans and young players that will likely be developing all season long.

Flyers' growing pains

TY to over ---810,000 readers---of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Flyers -

Last night's game against the Blues revealed some growing pains.

I noticed at training camp that Ilya Bryzgalov was a very confident goalie who was learning his new teammates tendencies on the ice. One of the ways he did that was by having a variety of on-ice conversations with them as practice was progressing.

All goalies to do, some more so than others.

The point in this case is that he is a very strong-willed guy. So, it will be interesting to see how he meshes with his defenders moving forward.

I think they will benefit, over time, by having a confident and highly skilled netminder playing behind them. While this group might not be used to this type of style, it will become so moving forward.

Consistent winning will help this process all the more.

Flyers + Pronger & the Blues

TY to over ---800,000 readers---of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Flyers -

The team faces the Blues tonight.

Chris Pronger was traded to by Hartford to St. Louis for Brendan Shanahan in 1995. He went onto win the Hart and Norris trophies in '99-'00.

He remains one of the best defensemen in the League and one of the best in the past two decades. His continued health should allow the Flyers to have a chance at some success this season.
