Sixers

Doug Collins has his guys playing the game the right way. While the Sixers lost to the Nuggets at home was a close one, fans are right to remain encouraged that better days are ahead for their b-ball team.

As time moves forward (as in the next few seasons) all this team needs is a star to make them a true contender.

Flyers

The Flyers host the Islanders tonight in what seems like an endless series of dull in-season matchups with that particular squad. No matter how this game turns out, the New Yorkers are once again out of the running for the playoffs and don't offer fans a reason to go see this game, to watch it on tv, or to listen to it on the radio/online.

Are the Islanders ever going to be competitive?

Phillies and Flyers notes

TY to over 600,000 readers of my Yahoo Sports articles since 2/1/11. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Phillies - John Kruk's Wall of Fame induction ceremony was great.  Kruk emphasized the positives of Philadelphia, including how he met his wife - was diagnosed and cured from cancer - and had his greatest seasons of his career all in the city of brotherly love.

He also noted that the media mentions athletes who couldn't perform there but they were the ones who didn't have the guts to succeed.  (GREAT SPEECH - KRUKER!)

Flyers - If this team enters the season healthy and remains so throughout, it will have its 'best shot' at contending for the Stanley Cup since the 1980s.
