This headline topic has been re-posted because it is Election Day here in the United States. Go out and vote for whoever you feel the best federal, state and local candidates are. It is your right and your duty.

On the lighter side, here are some Philadelphia Phillies' candidates for the consideration of every baseball voter:

Baseball Topic:  Phillies' Presidential Ticket Choices

While I'm following the playoffs, there are no Phillies' games to seen. As such, it's  clearly time to consider which two Phillies' players would serve as an alternative Presidential ticket in an all baseball world.

Presidential Candidate:  Roy Halladay

This doctor isn't operating like he used to, but should still be able to get the job done.

Vice Presidential Candidate:  Kyle Kendrick

'KK' has proven that he can step-up and get the job done when needed. He's a true supportive friend to anyone in the top spot.

or

Presidential Candidate:  Kevin Frandsen

Yes, he's an alternative political choice, but man did this gritty guy know how to hit the ball squarely.

Vice Presidential Candidate:  Erik Kratz

Anyone who can throw a runner out at second base from his knees and slammed a number of home runs has earned a backup spot.

or

Presidential Candidate:  Jimmy Rollins

The old dog knows how to defend his turf and still knows how to get the baseball economy going.

Vice Presidential Candidate:  Darin Ruf

This young pup has shown remarkable power. With just a little bit of seasoning, he might be ready for prime time.

or

Presidential Candidate:  Cliff Lee

He inherited the run support of Cole Hamels, but didn't complain about it. His numbers were also as good as anyone on the political baseball scene in Philadelphia this year.

Vice Presidential Candidate:  Jonathan Papelbon

Yes, he's kooky (and we have seen that in a VP before). But, the man is loyal and gets the job done. What more do you want from the second in command?

Hockey Headline Topic:  NHL

If talks go well, there is plenty of time for the NHL start its season within a month. We can only assume that would also allow the Winter Classic to be put back on the docket as well.

Of course, assuming anything during negotiations is very speculative. So, time will tell if a deal actually gets done.

Seeing Darin Ruf hit numerous home runs out of a Double-A park in Reading was thrilling. Seeing him hit his first major league home run, during the first game that he started in left field for the Philadelphia Phillies was priceless (to coin an advertising cliche.)

Will he actually develop into a major league player? Could that happen by next season? No one knows the answers to these questions, but personal stories have always drawn me to this specific game.

Here is my feature article about him.

Classic Headline Topic: The anniversary of Pete Rose's 4,192 hit.

Pete broke Ty Cobb's hit record on 9/11/85. The man was unique in the annals of baseball history.

Recent Headline Topic:  Phillies' free agent choices

The Phillies must make smart small moves this offseason. They don't have the payroll space available to them, as they did in past seasons.

I hope that Ruben Amaro, Jr. follows the advice that his mentor Pat Gillick gives him and continues to allow Ed Wade's influence to restock the farm system.

I'm aware that Gillick and Wade are background players, but each did a fine job within their areas of expertise while they held power. Amaro's record is very questionable at this time in history. He must do better starting right now.

Headline Topic: Parent interview

November had long been the month were all long-time Flyers' fans couldn't help but think about Pelle Lindbergh. That great young goalie was killed in an automobile accident in November 1985.

For me this month has changed in its significance during the past two years, because of the opportunity I had to meet and then interview Bernie Parent (Lindbergh's mentor) in November 2010.

That experience equaled the interview that I had with another childhood hero, Mike Schmidt, when I worked for the Phillies' Triple-A team that formerly was in Scranton.

Speaking with Parent, for a significant amount of time during that fall day, provided me with a deeply personal insight into Lindbergh's life (and to Parent's as well) that I never would have had otherwise.

News Headline: Presidential Debates are Over, Now...

If you are an undecided voter after all this time that must mean that you are undecided about voting - rather than about voting for either President Obama, or Governor Romney (or a third party candidate).

All I ask, is that you do vote. Don't feel like your vote doesn't count. Don't think that you don't know enough to cast your opinion in a formal way and don't forget about the state and local elections wherever you live.

Whoever you choose, for any office, makes you a part of the election process.

You matter and you count.
