Philadelphia Phillies Reject Boras' Bourn Ultimatum By Trading for Twins' Revere

Headline Topic: Phillies

I loved the Bourne movies (with Matt Damon) and have read all of the follow-up books in this ongoing series. Great adventure pulp to say the least.

So, sue me if you don't like my cheeky blog post headline. **Believe me, some readers have showed tons of "digital courage" by voicing their internet angst over far lesser tripe in the past. Big - and I do mean BIG LOL to all of them.

The Phillies not only didn't want to capitulate to Scott Boras, when it came to potentially signing free agent Michael Bourn, they didn't have to.

I like Amaro's pickup and think that this young man (Ben Revere) offers a blend of sharp defense and small-ball offense that should serve the team well overall. I understand that he's not the greatest OBP man in the world, but I still am okay with this deal.

Considering payroll issues and other team needs, this former Twin is a nice fit.

Recent Headline Topic: MMA Phenomena

I encourage fans of any sport to attend one of these events when you can. The excitement of the crowd and the efforts of the fighters will likely win you over to this superb athletic adventure.

Here is my most recent feature article about a live XFE Cage Wars event that I attended.

Headline Topic: Eagles - Cowboys Game

Another defeat, to the Dallas Cowboys no less, continues this season's misery. The season can't possibly end soon enough.

A fresh start for this entire organization grows closer by the week. I don't know where many major changes will lead to, but they are coming.

Andy Reid has been a very good coach. We can not say that he's been a great coach, because he didn't get that Super Bowl win. For me that is the dividing line between good and great. Responses to the contrary only come through use of emotional logic.

Phillies - Vance Worley

TY to over ---700,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Phillies  -

Just when everyone thought that the Phillies starting pitching staff couldn't be any deeper, Vance Worley emerged.

This fine young, colorful, hurler not only offers good news for this seasons, but the ones to come in the future.

He commands the plate, has mound presence beyond his years and is just, plain fun to watch.

With 11 wins heading into Sunday's game, he has already carved his place into Phillies lore during what seems certain to be their greatest regular season of all-time.

Phillies - Cliff Lee's Cy Young push and Vance Worley

TY to over 680,000 readers of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Phillies -

Cliff Lee's performance against the Braves on Labor Day was remarkable. He has willed his way into the National League Cy Young award race.

He may need to win-out the rest of the way to win the award. But, this is Lee we are talking about. So, anything is possible. His 2008 AL Cy Young award was his first such honor. He seems likely certain to pick up a NL award as some point.

Vance Worley is the young gun on a staff full of machines. His double-digit win total is not only a nice surprise, it bodes well for the Phillies long-term future.

While it is only one year, this kid might have what it takes to permanently play with the big boys in South Philly.

Phillies - Worley and Daytime Baseball

TY to over 630,000 readers of my Yahoo Sports articles since 2/1/11. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Phillies -

Vance Worley is one of those ballplayers that just makes you enjoy the game. He looks goofy, pitches with determination and is winner. An everyman who has made it big.

Daytime baseball in the summertime is like a snowfall on Christmas.  Is there anything better?

Love the Division Series playoff games that also begin in the afternoons. The Phillies and their fans will experience that in early October again this season.

Phillies - Vance Worley and Cliff Lee's NL Cy Young Push

TY to over 630,000 readers of my Yahoo Sports articles since 2/1/11. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Phillies - Vance Worley's efforts have been a welcomed surprise in Philadelphia this year. Imagine what every other team in baseball must be thinking as they see the pitching-rich Phillies come up with yet another good arm.

Cliff Lee continues to improve his chances at winning the NL Cy Young award. Coming from well behind the pack, he has reached the final quarter of the race and is gaining on his opponents as he heads for home. If he can somehow get to 20 wins, he may beat Halladay and/or the Dodger's Kershaw in a photo finish.
