Flyers

The first game without Giroux was stunning. The Flyers had tremendous energy and the Capitals were simply over-matched. To believe that the team can play like that every night, or that their opponent will respond in the same way obviously isn't the projected future.

It will be extremely challenging for the Flyers to stay in the Eastern Conference chase if Giroux is out for an extended period of time.

Phillies

The Phillies negotiations with Jimmy Rollins have not yet reached an ending point.

How long will either side allow the other to play out the string is questionable. Neither side wants to be left with an unacceptable alternative. For the Phillies - a weak shortstop situation. For Rollins - an undesirable contract with a team he may not want to play for.

Flyers move on & Phillies win World Series!...31 years ago yesterday

TY to over ---800,000 readers---of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Flyers -

The performance against the Capitals left a lot to be desired. It was a choppy game.

However, these days are to be expected when approximately half the team has been transfused with new blood.

The Caps defense and a seemingly healthy Ovechkin were just too much for the Flyguys.

Learn from it, put it behind them and go get the Blues.

Phillies -

31 years ago yesterday the Phils won their first World Series.

While we are a long way from Tugger, Schmidt and Lefty, that time will always remain eternally fresh in our hearts and minds.

Flyers hip fleet keeps on rolling

TY to over ---800,000 readers---of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11.http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Flyers -

The Brayden Schenn "era" (pun intended) begins today against the Capitals.

In all seriousness, this young man has a tremendous upside and could become an impact player over the course of time.

The staggering transformation of this group, from an uneven core that had played together for awhile, to a hip fleet of fliers (another pun) is really quite remarkable.

With much of the season left to be played, who knows where this all goes. But, it looks like it's going to be a fun ride.
