A strong thank you to everyone who has been downloading my eBook:

Quick Reads and Other Stuff on Amazon.com

These stories were specifically written for people who like to read, but don't have much time to do actually do so. Humor, horror, mystery, adventure, travel, sports and a few selected stories are all wrapped inside this mini-tome.

Some readers like to write reviews of the book on the Amazon site as well. All comments are welcomed. Well, the good ones are, lol, but you know what I mean.

Andy Reid:

It will be very interesting to see if Reid can win in KC and if so, how long it takes him to do that. His legacy is not set in stone.

What happens with the Chiefs over the next few years will tell everyone what type of coach and talent evaluator Reid really is. Many people in Philadelphia praised him for years and then turned on him.

The future will reveal how accurate a variety of arm-chair assessments really were.

Stanley Cup

The Los Angeles Kings will try to close out the New Jersey Devils for a third time tonight at home. Do they really want to go back to New Jersey with a chance to not only lose the Cup in Game 7, but also make history in so doing?

Pressure-cooker for sure.

Baseball cards

For those of us who are old enough to remember When Baseball Cards were King, the spring is always a special time of year.

Flyers

The Flyers thrilling overtime win against the Penguins and yesterday's competitive road game (that was lost in a shootout) against the Bruins seem to indicate that this team is ready for playoff action.

Hoist the Cup in June? That's always possible. But, let's realistically begin with a good first round victory and then take matters step-by-step, or skate-by-skate, as the case may be.

Flyers

Now that the All-Star game has passed, the stretch drive begins in full force.

The trade deadline next month will tell the tale of the Flyers true beliefs about their playoff hopes.

This truly looks to be a year of progress, but not Cup certainty.

Flyers & Phillies future

TY to over ---930,000 people---who have read my Yahoo Sports, News and Voices articles this year. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Flyers -

Another good effort last night by Philadelphia.

Bryzgalov played well in net.

This team really has its moments, but is still forming its character. With 1/2 of the roster filled with new players, its hard to imagine them solidifying into a powerful unit that can win the Cup this season. (Sure, anything is possible and hot streaks happen in the playoffs.)

But, the rebuilt core that Holmgren put together is a good one.

Any season that Pronger stays healthy in the playoffs (like in 2010) will be one where the team can make a run at Stanley.
Phillies -

This offseason is so critical.

The lineup absolutely has to be changed (by more than one starter and by more than a few bench pieces.)

You can't possibly spend all this money and have the type of great starting pitchers that they do and simply hope that the 2009-2011 lineup will somehow become better.

Changing at least 3 parts of that 8 man lineup will help. Left field has already been handled.

We will see if moves, or the groundwork for them, are yet to come as the Winter Meetings unfold.
