Phillies -

The not totally unexpected demise of the Phillies will play out well into next season.

How Ruben Amaro retools his team. What areas he addresses and how he actually does it will be very intriguing.

This offseason he will not only be changing parts, but adding new personality components to the team's marketing machine.

If the team drops off next season, it will be felt at the gate by season's end at the earliest.

Flyers -

Meanwhile, off in Flyerville... They beat the Devils in Game # 2 of the season.  They not only beat them, they shut them out and got three goals past Brodeur.

Early season energy has the entire team flying high. How the group personality handles rough patches in the season is yet to be determined.

It is far too soon to even think about how the spring playoffs may play out, which raises an interesting point.

Due to the massive amount of changes, there is no real pressure this year. That in and of itself is a very positive force.
