This team is one of baseball's current elite organizations.

Red Wings seek history, as Flyers try to prevent it

The Flyers face a Red Wings team that his chasing history today.

Mike Babcock's team leads the NHL in points and has won 19 consecutive home games. If the Red Wings are able to defeat the Flyers on Sunday, they will tie a record that was last set by the Boston Bruins in 1976.

Flyers game vs. Rangers offers perspective

Flyers

The Rangers have a balanced team, with a strong goaltender, who look to be set for a strong playoff run.

The Flyers remixed their roster last summer, lost their captain for the season and continue to face  ongoing defensive/goaltending issues.

While the team has done well overall, a long playoff run wasn't expected last fall and doesn't appear realistic as the team moves toward the spring.

When the final book on this season is written, a positive transitional year is likely to be seen in the summary of the final chapter.

This has been and is a good seasonal effort overall.

The anticipation of pitchers and catchers...followed by all of the other guys...is great.

Not too much longer before our boys of spring prepare for a long summer in what could be a different type of season than in recent years. I mean that in a good way and will detail the issue more as time moves forward.

Until then....let's get ready to play ball!

Flyers, Maple Leafs, Eric Lindros and Darryl Sittler

Flyers

Game against the Maple Leafs reminded me of Lindros and Sittler.

Eric only played one season for Toronto, a few seasons after leaving Philly. Sittler came to the Flyers after twelve seasons in a Leafs uniform.

The link: Both were great players who played in two great hockey towns.
