Ryan Howard and the Phillies front office are both talking about him returning to the team around May.

Howard said today that he hopes to be feeling fully himself by July.

It will be very interesting to see what the Phillies offense is like without him.

New York Knicks Jeremy Lin is another breath of fresh air

Jeremy Lin

New York Knicks point guard is not only a great basketball story this season, he's also a great breath of fresh air within the sports culture.

While his play has rightly been the focus, his response to the ESPN issue was a true breath of fresh air. This 23-year-old modeled his Christian faith by not playing the 'victim' card. Kudos my friend.

True reality show

While they are in different sports and have different skill levels, Tim Tebow's actions during the football season combine with Lin's in a uniquely positive way that shows a secular culture a true reality show.

Phillies Spring Training Opens + Flyers trade

Flyers

Paul Holmgren made a nice move in picking up Pavel Kubina from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Despite the goaltending issues, he believes his team has a chance at the Cup. The additions of Grossman from the Stars and now Kubina must be respected. As is often the case, the Flyers are going for it.

Phillies

Pitchers and catchers are officially at work in spring training. And so the quest for the 2012 World Series begins.

Phillies ready to face the future

As spring training is set to begin the Phillies could be on a pivotal season.

While they likely won't  descend into the sub .500 zone, if they don't win the World Series this year, it's important for them to make playoff progress this season. That means they need to at least get to the NLCS this coming fall.

While health is important, the actual performance of those who are playing will trump that key issue.
