Wow, this team looks nothing like it did in past years.
Sure, troubling signs have appeared in recent seasons regarding the offense. But, the pitching woes that are so evident have simply cut winning ties right quick.
Unless the current atmosphere suddenly moves in a positive direction, trade winds will blow through this team very soon.

Stanley Cup
Full congrats to the Los Angeles Kings on their first Cup victory.
Having had the chance to talk with Ron Hextall at the Winter Classic Alumni game, I couldn't be happier for him and for all of the former Flyers who have earned this great (and unexpected) victory.
Enjoy it my friends.

Chase Utley is getting ready down in Clearwater. Who knows where the Phillies will be in the standings by the time he returns to Philly (likely later this month).

The Los Angeles Kings will try to close out the New Jersey Devils for a third time tonight at home. Do they really want to go back to New Jersey with a chance to not only lose the Cup in Game 7, but also make history in so doing?

Philadelphia Phillies Potential Trade Scenarios and Managerial Moves

As the losses mount and no true fix appears to be in sight, many fans are beginning to accept the fact that trades will be made in the near future.
Shane Victorino, Cole Hamels, Jim Thome and others could all be on the block sooner rather than later.
I don't blame Charlie Manuel for the position the current team is in, as he is playing the cards that were dealt to him. No one is saying that he is Connie Mack, but he stimulated this dugout's ego for many years.
Ryne Sandberg needs to be incorporated into the Phillies minor league plans as soon as possible. I would make him a coach this season and then take things from there.

Anticlimactic Belmont Stakes Odds, Information and Three Picks

What a downer
It's not that no one cares who wins today's Belmont Stakes race in New York. But, it's true that a lot less people will be drawn to the show.
I had my own numeric superstition involving I'll Have Another in the eleventh post position. That was linked to the fact that there have been eleven Triple Crown winners in history and eleven horses have gone to the Belmont Stakes since Affirmed won in 1978.
Here is a link to the remaining 11 contenders and their current odds.
With IHA scratched, all I'm left with is choosing the horse in the first post position (Street Life) and the one in the tenth position (Optimizer). That 1 + 10 = 11. Deep use of logic, right?
For a long shot, I'll go with Guyana Star Dweej,who will be racing from the eighth spot. Doodnauth Shivmangal's choice of Kent Desormeaux was interesting. Not because he is a Hall of Famer of course, but because of his Preakness suspension. Even a show finish would make for a nice story there.
Those are my top three. Hardly the most brilliant selections. Hardly the most wanted scenario for today's anticlimactic race.
