Phillies

Chase Utley's return went fabulously well. The team's bullpen game didn't work and the team lost to the Pirates as a result. (Hardly unexpected, or a tragedy.)

The move to designate Chad Qualls for assignment makes sense. While he had been an effective pitcher earlier in his career, he was not this season.

Joe Savery was modestly effective and was also not suprisingly sent down to Triple-A.

The call-ups of Brian Sanches and Jeremy Horst from Lehigh Valley basically continues to ongoing shifts in a bullpen that is not strong. Possibly, one or both of these men can be better than the two who are now gone.

The need for more bullpen changes seems certain as the schedule unfolds.

Baseball cards

For those of us who are old enough to remember When Baseball Cards were King, the spring is always a special time of year.

Bygone days spent with elementary school days and family members opening packs of Topps cardboard gold never truly fade away.

Hockey

Here is a hockey story that all ice fans will like: The mystery behind these 1970s Topps hockey cards is revealed.
