Maddie: Teaching Tolerance with a Smile - The release date has almost arrived...

Most writers create books that they hope other people will read. When I first thought of the idea to write Maddie: Teaching Tolerance with a Smile, my goal was to capture a real-life story in the form of a children's book that would be engaging and help other people to improve their lives.

This illustrated book is about the life of Madison Woytovich and the organization CAP (Children's Alopecia Projectthat her family founded a number of years ago.

My book took more than two years to develop. Time, effort and resilience came fully into play for all involved.

A variety of individuals, who are mentioned within the book's pages, deserve credit for helping to make it become a reality.

I'll continue posting updates here on my blog so that all readers can stay up-to-date on what is shaping up to be a buzz-worthy release.

I'm donating 50% of all proceeds from the book to CAP. Visit crowdit.com to learn more about the efforts that allowed this idea to be born.

Thank you to Stacey Stauffer (Fox 29 Philadelphia). She interviewed Maddie Woytovich, her parents (Jeff and Betsy Woytovich) and me recently about the latest chapter in this inspiring story. The feature will be aired during the 10 p.m. broadcast on July 30 (which is the date of today's post).

Professional reporters and video journalists are vital in an ever-changing media world. Stacey and the Fox staff were first-rate.
