May the many positive elements of President Kennedy's life continue to resonate in America and around the world as we remember the date of his death - 11/22/63.

Penn State: Unsolved mystery involving missing DA who investigated Sandusky case

TY to over ---890,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

***This post is being tweeted again because of the high volume of interest that the information I wrote about  continues to generate. The original version was first posted on 11/14/11.

Penn State:

Center County District Attorney Ray Gricar has been missing since 2005.

Anytime a DA is missing, a list of many 'enemies' could be considered as potential suspects in what could be a crime.

In this instance - Gricar was the DA who, in 1998, investigated the matters involving Jerry Sandusky that have now become infamous.

Missing hard drive

Gricar disappeared in 2005. His body has never been found since, but his car was found in a parking lot and his laptop computer was found in the Susquehanna river. That laptop was missing its hard drive.

Would someone only keep sensitive information on a hard drive, or would they also back it up?

This speculation doesn't prove, or even implies, that it was connected to the current matter. Right?

Logic

Gricar chose not to prosecute in the late 1990s because he must have believed that he didn't have enough conclusive evidence to do so.

There is no evidence that suggests he was a friend of Sandusky, or was somehow persuaded to overlook the matter.

What is the likelihood that a DA who investigated a case of this nature chose to never follow up after the late 1990s?

What information about that case, or any other case, was he in possession at the time of his disappearance?

Gricar is either somehow still alive somewhere, committed suicide, was abducted and then murdered randomly by strangers, or was abducted and then murdered intentionally by people with clear intent.

It seems highly unlikely that he is still alive.

Suicide? No information about personal problems, mental issues, or blackmail exists.

No, there is no evidence that any of that related to the Penn State situation.

But, the entire argument about why this entire matter has remained a secret for so long seems to be missing some logical pieces.

We may never know what actually happened to Gricar.

But, whatever happened to him and his life deserves justice. And so do his family, friends and colleagues.
(The exact same thoughts are currently being offered for the children who were victims in this scandal as well.)

Flyers notes

Flyers -

A trip to New York to play the Islanders has often generated good results.

Still playing without Chris Pronger and Brayden Coburn, it's difficult to tell how the team's defense will perform.

The Islanders have been shutout in two consecutive games. Possibly, the return of Jagr will keep the pressure in their zone tonight.

Penn State: Sandusky's diabolical nature is being too easily dismissed + Flyers' notes

TY to over ---890,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Penn State:

Yesterday's game verses Ohio State had a much less dramatic pre-game set of circumstances than the game in the prior week.

Remember when all most fans cared about was the score of the game? Well, Penn State won.

Anyone who believes that the University shouldn't be playing these games, or shouldn't accept a Bowl bid is wrong. You don't punish people when the facts of this case are barely seeing the light of day. You also don't punish people to any greater degree than you punish Jerry Sandusky if these allegations are true either.

Have we heard media members question the role of his wife in all of this? Why not blame her too and state  that she should have reported these incidents to the authorities. Why just point the finger at his co-workers?

As the witch hunt of everything Penn State continues during the next few years, it will be interesting to see how much the University is penalized for the actions that likely were thought of, initiated and carried out by Sandusky.

Anyone who wants to claim that so many other people should have done so many other things seem to be forgetting one simple point. If any of these allegations, or even just one, are proven to be true then we will know that Sandusky was an exceedingly clever human being.

****He cleverly fooled many people for many decades.******

That fact is being totally discounted by the media and others who are flying at light speed to the scene so they can point fingers in every other direction.

Flyers -

The team's game against the Winnipeg Jets was a wild one.

The defense was a bit shaky, then stabilized later. These games will happen when approximately 1/2 of the roster is filled with new players.

Onto the next game.

The Penn State Brand at Ohio State + Flyers' notes

TY to over ---880,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Penn State:

Today's game verses Ohio State will be interesting in many regards. One of the areas of interest involves  how a rival crowd will respond to the Penn State brand.

After any on-field pre-game joint ceremony, what will the reaction actually be?

There are few (if any) truly comparable situations to the issues surrounding this program.

Flyers -

The team's game today against the Winnipeg Jets is anticipated by hockey heads.

It's always cool to see hockey being played in a Canadian city. Even better when a team has returned.

The NHL needs teams north of the border. More of them may be coming in the future and would be welcomed for the overall health and balance of the sport.

Penn State: Joe Paterno has lung cancer + Flyers notes

TY to over ---880,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Penn State:

Somewhat lost in the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State, is the fact that real human beings were and are affected by this matter. Many people were forced to deal with this criminal situation.

One of those people is Joe Paterno.

It was revealed today, by his son Scott, that he has a treatable form of lung cancer.

Remember one thing - if the person who allegedly caused these acts is found guilty of them, then he was, is and will be the problem.

Overly focusing upon how anyone else responded to this matter serves to push responsibility away from the true issue.

Flyers -

Ilya Bryzgalov played well against his former team last night. In beating the Coyotes, he took another step forward.

After the game he responded to pre-game criticism leveled at him by two former Phoenix teammates with decency. Class and the lack of it are both noticeable.

The Sandusky Scandal & Semantics + Flyers notes

TY to over ---880,000 readers--- of my Yahoo Sports, Interview and News articles since 2/1/11. http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/977720/sean_obrien.html

Penn State:

McQueary's claims of reporting the incident he witnessed are now being refuted by the police.

It's critical to focus on semantics in this area of the scandal. The meaning of words matters.

McQueary said that he had discussions with the police and with those in charge of the police at Penn State.

If he did so with specific detail, some type of report(s) would have been prepared.

There are two scenarios here:

1. He reported it.

In that case, any ethical people would have created a report. If someone was told not to do so, they would have gone over their bosses head to a higher legal authority.

2. He didn't report it.

He still could have witnessed the incident, but didn't report it.

Reflect upon your own work experiences, because that is the only subject that any of us are truly the experts on, and then you decide what is the most reasonable scenario.

Flyers -

Ilya Bryzgalov faces his old team, the Phoenix Coyotes, tonight.

Any game like that is sure to stir his emotions. Hopefully, it inspires him to continue on the same sharp path that he has been on for the past 4-5 games.

The Coyotes former number 1 goalie is now the Flyers number 1 goalie. He has the chops to stay in that slot for years to come.
