***This information is being re-posted because of the high volume of interest that the information contained within this post continues to generate. The original version was first posted on 11/14/11.

Penn State:

Center County District Attorney Ray Gricar has been missing since 2005.

Anytime a DA is missing, a list of many 'enemies' could be considered as potential suspects in what could be a crime.

In this instance - Gricar was the DA who, in 1998, investigated the matters involving Jerry Sandusky that have now become infamous.

Missing hard drive

Gricar disappeared in 2005. His body has never been found since, but his car was found in a parking lot and his laptop computer was found in the Susquehanna river. That laptop was missing its hard drive.

Would someone only keep sensitive information on a hard drive, or would they also back it up?

This speculation doesn't prove, or even implies, that it was connected to the current matter. Right?

Logic

Gricar chose not to prosecute in the late 1990s because he must have believed that he didn't have enough conclusive evidence to do so.

There is no evidence that suggests he was a friend of Sandusky, or was somehow persuaded to overlook the matter.

What is the likelihood that a DA who investigated a case of this nature chose to never follow up after the late 1990s?

What information about that case, or any other case, was he in possession at the time of his disappearance?

Gricar is either somehow still alive somewhere, committed suicide, was abducted and then murdered randomly by strangers, or was abducted and then murdered intentionally by people with clear intent.

It seems highly unlikely that he is still alive.

Suicide? No information about personal problems, mental issues, or blackmail exists.

No, there is no evidence that any of that related to the Penn State situation.

But, the entire argument about why this entire matter has remained a secret for so long seems to be missing some logical pieces.

We may never know what actually happened to Gricar.

But, whatever happened to him and his life deserves justice. And so do his family, friends and colleagues.  (The exact same thoughts are currently being offered for the children who were victims in this scandal as well.)

Eagles: Credit is due

Eagles

Many people had/have totally written the Eagles off. Whether they win out, or not, they at least deserve credit for trying.

Yes, the Jets aren't a great team this year and Vick's return has made a difference. But, the coaching staff and many players are giving it there all.

After everything that has transpired this season, they have a chance at salvaging respect if not the season.

Eagles last real gameday? & Flyers' injury news

Yes, the Eagles are still technically in the playoff hunt. But, how many people really believe the best possible scenario will play out.

If it does, will that lead to a Super Bowl victory?

You can call it rebuilding, revamping, remixing, refreshing, or whatever you choose to term it, but the 'it' that needs to be done is re-starting the season. As in next fall.

Flyers

The Bruins drubbing was just one of those games where you realize reality. The Flyers are a good team this season, who have been hit hard by recent injuries.

It wouldn't be surprising to see both elements (good talent and ongoing injury concerns) remain with the team through the spring.

Why? Well, their talent is solid and the types of injuries that some players have faced won't go away any time soon.

Rookie Sean Couturier was hit in the head by a puck at yesterday's game. That sent him to the hospital for an overnight stay. The Flyers haven't announced anything yet regarding his condition, but he won't be making the trip to Colorado to play the Avalanche on Monday. Concussion? Wow, if so.

Flyers

Always thoughts about that first Cup win when Boston returns to town...

The contest against the Bruins today should prove interesting for a variety of reasons.

Can the team win its eighth straight?

How will that top line continue to adjust to life without Giroux?

Is the defense going to continue its improved play without Pronger?

Many positives for this remixed group of Flyers this year. Can they keep it up facing severe adversity?

Penn State: Sandusky's red herrings

Jerry Sandusky scandal

Question: What do all of these things have in common?...

1. Questioning what Mike McQueary saw, when he saw it, how he saw it, what he said about it and
    what he did about it.

2. One of Sandusky's "interesting" lawyers explaining how underprivileged children need to be shown
    how to properly shower themselves.

3. Any talk of how Joe Paterno and the entire staff at Penn State (or anyone else) responded to the
terrible problem created by Sandusky's actions.

Answer: They are all red herrings designed to shift focus from Sandusky's actions.

The logic behind trying to convince the public, the media and eventually a jury that everyone else did wrong while Sandusky did right is desperate and despicable.

Only fools buy lies. Only those who want to excuse Sandusky and others like him push 1, 2, and/or 3.

Flyers

Claude Giroux and Chris Pronger have no exact date of returning to the ice.

Eric Lindros has suggested that the red line should be put back into the game to reduce the speed of the game. That suggestion makes more sense to me than anything I've heard.

Speed and open play has made the game more thrilling, but its dangerously thrilling and that's not good.

Flyers dominate and Phillies negotiate

Flyers

The first game without Giroux was stunning. The Flyers had tremendous energy and the Capitals were simply over-matched. To believe that the team can play like that every night, or that their opponent will respond in the same way obviously isn't the projected future.

It will be extremely challenging for the Flyers to stay in the Eastern Conference chase if Giroux is out for an extended period of time.

Phillies

The Phillies negotiations with Jimmy Rollins have not yet reached an ending point.

How long will either side allow the other to play out the string is questionable. Neither side wants to be left with an unacceptable alternative. For the Phillies - a weak shortstop situation. For Rollins - an undesirable contract with a team he may not want to play for.

Penn State: Jerry Sandusky and the secular media storm

**This information is being re-posted due to the interest the initial post generated on 12/10/11.

Sandusky

It seems as though the media hasn't sunk it's teeth into the recent news that Sandusky's family apparently was aware of his actions. Excuse me, alleged actions. There is at least one cowardly lawyer who has been paid to claim that he believes that this human being is innocent.

Clearly the first person who was responsible for all of these actions was Jerry Sandusky himself. Only those humanists who choose to believe that we are all actually higher forms of animals reject that common sense fact.

***By the way - there is no evidence in the fossil record (as in all fossils that have ever been discovered) that any species have ever morphed into any other species. Therefore without logical proof of that having occurred, certain personality types have simply chosen to believe that various life forms evolved into other life forms. And scientists say that those who believe in religion do so on the basis of nothing?

How often have you seen that information?

The bottom line

Sandusky knew that what he was doing was wrong and did so anyway.

In his own family, at least his wife knew that what he was doing was wrong. We don't yet know what she may have done to stop him.

Penn State is a corporation. Yes, it's a land grant institution as well.

It wasn't primarily Penn State's responsibility to stop Sandusky, it was Sandusky's. Then it was his wife's responsibility. After that, it was the responsibility of the rest of his family and the families of those whose children were being abused.

Those who believe in morality understand what is noted above. Those who don't, think that all the rest of us aren't smart enough to see what they do.

Flyers

"Concussions, or possible concussions, are such a tricky issue. Here's hoping that he is completely okay. The team can't afford to lose him for any sustained period of time."

That was my quote from yesterday's blog post. Well, he's got a concussion and now all bets are off. Oh boy.

Phillies

The Phillies are always taking risks, based upon the incredibly positive influence of Pat Gillick. Ruben Amaro, Jr. has credited him on many occassions for creating a creative management mindset in the Phillies front offices.

The latest proof of that is the addition of free agent Dontrelle Willis as a lefty specialist in the bullpen. A low-risk move that fills a void in the pen, which has the potential to be a team strength. Things have to fall right for that to become a reality, but there are enough quality arms to make it possible.
