Philadelphia Phillies' Trades and The Opinions That Follow

The Philadelphia Phillies are bound to make some trades this month and next. Ruben Amaro, Junior's decisions will help to shape the future of the franchise for the next few seasons based upon what he's going to do in the next few weeks.

It's easy to take pot shots at people in his position. I've learned through my experience in the Phillies' farm system and through my sports' writing efforts over the years that the fully public nature of this game invites every loyalist's opinion under the sun to shine at all times. Yes, the money fans choose to give to MLB creates and sustains the game. But, it's been increasingly obvious to me that fans project whatever elements lie within their own lives onto the modern field of play.

I ask my readers to keep that in mind (and yes, that is my opinion of today's modern fan culture for sure) if you see the summer's hot Phillies' stove explode before your eyes.

Thank you to Stacey Stauffer (Fox 29 Philadelphia). She interviewed Maddie Woytovich, her parents (Jeff and Betsy Woytovich) and me recently about the latest chapter in this inspiring story. The feature will be shown on an upcoming newscast.

Professional reporters and video journalists are vital in an ever-changing media world. Stacey and the Fox staff were first-rate.

I will be donating one-half of all proceeds from the sale of my soon-to-be-released illustrated children's bookMaddie: Teaching Tolerance with a Smile to the non-profit group: Children's Alopecia Project (CAP).

More news about the book and the story behind it will be posted in this blog as the release date nears.
