Philadelphia Phillies' Movie Dilemma + Eagles Expected Game

Headline Topic:  Those Still-likable Phillies

I've written a column for Yahoo today that looks at a certain Atlanta Braves' outfielder and references a recent action movie series. Any baseball/movie fan should be able to connect these Matt Damon dots.

Headline Topic II: The Eagles

You didn't need to be Vince Lombardi to know that the Eagles erratic style of play (and last-minute) victories couldn't continue to yield success indefinitely.

I'm not sure how Andy Reid will adjust his team moving through the next 2-3 games, but these turnovers have to stop.

Yesterday's Headline Topic: Tony DiLeo

The hiring of DiLeo as GM promotes from within and represents another feel-good move that the newest Sixers ownership group has made.

With Doug Collins seemingly likely to continue to have strong influence on this team, all signs remain positive for the resurgence of this basketball franchise.

Classic Headline Topic: The Phillies and MLB Wild Card expansion

The Phillies' game with the Mets was postponed due to rain. So, Cloyd has been pushed to Thursday and Hamels will go tomorrow. With every win being vital, we'll see if the Phils can pickup (or will lose) a 0.5 game tonight.

Yesterday's Yahoo feature about the expansion of baseball's playoff format generated some nice numbers and interesting responsive commentary. If you are interested reading more, here's the link:
Major League Baseball should implement a Wild Card within each division

Classic Headline Topic: The anniversary of Pete Rose's 4,192 hit.

Pete broke Ty Cobb's hit record on 9/11/85. The man was unique in the annals of baseball history.

For those who are interested, my recent feature comments on Rose's time with the Phillies and the complex feelings that many of us have about his gambling issues:
Phillies' great Mike Schmidt, Pete Rose, and baseball justice

Recent Headline Topic: The Eagles

Another Eagles last-moment win, as they defeated the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

With all deep analysis left to those who have far more football experience than I do, can a team continue to play the way that it has and still win on a consistent basis?
